Arcadem Pro has two theme systems.  Theres the legacy system which was used from Arcadem 1.0 up until Arcadem Pro 2.708, which is depreciated and no longer recommend for use (but has been kept for compatibilities sake) and then theres the Smarty templates system in Arcadem Pro 2.709-RC1 which will be used in all foreseeable future versions.

Notes on Thumbnails

Here’s some technical information about thumbnails. This information is applicable to Arcadem LE 2.x and Arcadem Pro 2.0 to 2.6. Arcadem Pro 2.7 and above still supports these details, but there will be a new thumbnail system implemented in 2.7 and above that will support large thumbnails.

Arcadem Pro 2.51 added a new cache feature aimed at greatly increasing the performance of Arcadem Pro. This feature was originally planned to be rolled out in Arcadem Pro 2.7, but was brought forward due to the performance hit the additional features in Arcadem Pro 2.50 presented. The cache system was significantly revised in Arcadem Pro 2.700 and 2.709-RC1.

Arcadem Pro ships with over 500 games, however those games are located in a separate zip file due to it’s massive size. You will also need to install the games from the main menu Games > Gamepack Wizard and then select GameSiteScript/Arcadem Pro 2.6x from the selection (2nd one down.)

Arcadem has several game packs available for it. Currently available:

• Default 500 pack - The free 500 games that ship with Arcadem. Total games: 500
• 1500 game pack - This game pack has 1500 games, the 500 from the ‘Default 500 pack’ plus an addition 1000. Total games: 1500
• 2500 game pack - This game pack has 2500 games, the 500 from the ‘Default 500 pack’, the 1000 from the ‘1500 game pack’, plus an addition 1000. Total games: 2500
• 3500 game pack - This game pack has 3458 games, including all the previous game packs, plus an addition 1000. Total games: 3458

Installing Arcadem 2.x is relatively simple.

1. First, upload all the files onto your web host using your favorite FTP client (Agares Media recommends the open source FTP client, FileZilla)
2. Next, using your favorite web browser (Arcadem is optimized for FireFox 2) goto http://www.yourdomain.com/install/ where “www.yourdomain.com” represents the domain you’ve uploaded the files to. If you’ve uploaded them to a sub-directory, such as /public_html/arcadem/ then make sure you’re point the browser to the correct location
3. Follow the on screen instructions. You will need an empty MySQL database setup, along with a user who has full read/write permissions to the database. This can be done using phpMyAdmin or another database administration tool. If you’re unsure of how to do this, consult your web hosting company for instructions.
4. Once you’re done, delete the /install/ directory
5. Next, you will want to upload your Game Packs. Game files go in the /arcade/ directory and images go in /arcade/img/  You will have to log into your admin panel through browser at the /admin/ directory, the goto the Games menu and select Gamepack Wizard.  It will step you through the process of uploading and installing your game pack.
